The Spatial Imagination

We are so excited to announce ‘The Spatial Imagination’. As many continue to organise for the long-crisis – or more aptly the continued crises our people and planet face – this two-day virtual convening asks what are the speculative futures we envision, how are people creating spaces and sanctuaries, what are the new narratives around spaces and who is shaping them? ‘The Spatial Imagination’ channels the abundance of ideas, passion, excitement and work of those at the intersection of art, culture, design and spatial practice.

The convening is part of our work exploring the reimagining of space and place, supported by The National Lottery Community Fund’s Emerging Futures award. ‘The Spatial Imagination’ recognises and platforms the wealth of expertise from over 30 community-rooted artists, designers and cultural workers who are working to reclaim, reimagine and create safer, more joyful and equitable spaces.

We’ll be hearing from artists and practitioners such as Caleb Femi, Tobi Kyeremateng, Alan Lane, Farzana Khan and Ama Josephine Budge (to name just a few) who will be sharing insights, widening knowledge production and imagining new landscapes in which spaces and places are rooted in social justice.
