Freelance Arts & Events Assistant


Term: Part-time, casual (Dec 16 - Feb 17 initially)

Rate: £16k* (*pro-rata)

Location: Birmingham

 

The company

We are an artist-led production hub, exploring how those in the creative industries live, work and contribute in society at present and in the future. Since launching in 2014, we have supported hundreds of artists with paid work, mentoring, business training and exhibiting platforms and have delivered projects for clients including BBC, Maverick TV, Birmingham City Council and Worcester Business School.

 

The role

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, organised and arts loving individual to join the team. The Arts & Events Assistant will support the planning, communications, co-ordination and delivery of our arts events, workshops and projects. Please note, this is likely to include some evening and weekend work.

This position can involve working from home, therefore, applicants will demonstrate strong organisation, initiative, confidence and responsibility. Applicants will show a passion for the arts and creative industries and a willingness to blog about related matters. Ideally, the candidate will also be proficient and equipped with design software for company publicity materials and will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The role is initially outlined for December 2016 – February 2017, but we hope to be able to extend this, subject to funding.

 

Responsibilities to include:

·      Artist and partner liaisons

·      Event support: payments, admin, first point of contact

·      Social media, newsletters and online communications

·      Copywriting and blogging

·      General administration and design

·      Scheduling meetings and taking minutes where necessary
