A radical, experimental art school, where everybody gets to be an artist (even - in fact especially - if you wouldn’t call yourself one). It’s free and open to all to attend.
Across three days, we’ll activate ART SCHOOL as a site for transformation, feeding and weaving our collective imaginations and offerings into the design and making of ABUELOS.
ART SCHOOL has an open door policy, so you can drop in and out as you need. Each day runs at YARD, 11pm - 4pm, with lunch and refreshments provided.
How does ART SCHOOL work?
Each day is split into two rounds, where we respond to different prompts. This time, the prompts have been curated to support us in organising for ABUELOS.
With each prompt, we’re given a choice of three mediums to explore with (e.g. a collage/a playlist/a diagram). We have 60 minutes to make and then (after a break) we return to share.
Downstairs, there are different making stations set up, and upstairs, the music studio is open for folks who want to use sound. We also have the project room preserved as a rest and quiet space.
You can join for as much or as little of the School as works for you.
If you have any questions, or if there are ways we can support you to be able to attend ART SCHOOL, please email programme@maiagroup.co
